Only find half my tunes

My computer crashed (Windows XP) and I can only retrieve half my tunes. My compuer tech was able to retrieve half my tunes all in one folder. I do own two iPods 3rd gen 20 gig and a 4th gen 40 gig. I guess two folders were created but only one found I need to find out how to retrieve the second folder. My tunes in my library totaled just over 12,000 and now I only have 7792 I also lost all created playlists. Can anyone help me

You should have backed up your library because it is probably gone.

-Do a search on your computer using the search function.
-Try using a data recovery program
