After reading all the positive reviews on this site I ordered a pair of these. They arrived today and I've been giving them a good try out. First off I tried all the silicone flange ear tips. The mediums seemed to seal ok and the sound was good but nothing special. Then I got round to trying the foam tips. FECK ME they are awesome!!! The bass I'd been promised arrived in a big way and the soundstaging was massive. Easily the best earphones I've ever heard by miles. The low end is so good it makes the treble seem a little weak, but switching the EQ to treble boost sorted this out. On the ipod I can only compare them to the standard buds and Koss Porta-Pros, neither of which are remotely in the same league. I did briefly demo the Bose QC2 and I have to say the UEs are a lot better than those too.
If, like me, you're looking for a high quality big sound in a canalphone this should be high on your list. Thanks to everyone who recommended them.
It looks like I'll need a good supply of the foam tips. Anyone know where to get them cheap?

20 for $20 seems cheep to me. But I see you are from the UK, so I assume pricing might be different...........

UE charges about $15 for shipping, and that's within the US.
Try EarphoneSolutions.com (http://earphonesolutions.com/uleasufoeart.html)
They are $19.95 w/~$5 shipping (US), but I don't know about UK.

I got my pair on monday and have been using them everyday so far. The sound is really clear and makes for listening to my music very enjoyable. Crisp and clean is a good thing! As for the seal, I have tried every single flange and I have come to use the large flange. They seem to seel really well and are the most comfortable! I tried the foam tips and they seem to fall out of my ear as soon as I put them in. When I take out the large silicon flanges from my ear, you can feel that they have great seal as you can feel the suction from removing them. I will give them more time to prove themselves and I am sure they will sound even better!

I thought I was achieving a good seal too with the silicone tips, but the sound just wasn't coming through as strongly, particularly the bass. With the foam tips you really have to sqidge them down as small as possible and then quickly insert them before they spring back, otherwise they just fall out. Once in place though, these easily gave the best sound. I think I'll try the silicone ones again though, since they are more convenient and look like they'll last a lot longer.
I haven't had chance to check the uk prices for the foam tips, but my biggest concern is that I'll get through them at an alarming rate. I've only used them for 2 days and they already look quite grubby. It might even be worth getting some moulded earpieces made for them, similar to the custom fits.

I just switched out my large silicon tips with the med. sized ones and they fit even better. The way I know I get a good seal is when you can feel the suction when pulling the plugs out of your ear. The sound is great and the bass seems great. When I tried the foam tips several times, I could not get a good seal, they would just fall out or move around. I do not know why they do this. But I am happy with what are on there now! These are great phones and I am glade I spent the money. When I first saw the price tag and what kind of market I was looking for, I thought they were crazy. My friends still think I am crazy for spending that much money on head phones.

I think they're worth the money if you use your ipod a lot and demand high quality sound. I drew the line at the custom fits, which I think are a bit OTT for ipod usage only.
