Now, I am getting these headphones, and does anyone have any good experience with these headphones? how sturdy are these? how strong is the top part of it?

I plan on getting these, and will be using them on my computer and with my iPod, now, I've been posting around, and I was told that I should get an amplifier for it, can anyone explain to me how I would use this w/ my iPod and my computer? How much is an amplifier?

Thanks for the help.

You don't need an amp for it.

This might be a little late but . . .

I have these. Yes they are very sturdy and they are made out of hard plastic. I have had a very positive experience with them on my iPod and my Audigy 2ZS soundcard. It makes the sound so much clear and cleaner. I also find I don’t have to listen to music as loud. I don’t know your experience, but this was my first quality headphone I’ve used. To me it DOES make a difference from the cheapys. They are also extremely comfortable.

The HD-485 doesn’t require an AMP, but an AMP will improve the sound a little. If you don't plan on "getting into this" I wouldn't buy an AMP but buy a better headphone. I also recommend the Head-Fi website. I’ve learned a lot from that site.

EDIT: The cost of AMP's vary greatly, but a starter AMP generally starts around $75.00.
