Ok, I completed the task last night with the IS on the back and wheel and MF on the front. I am completely happy with the combo.
Here are pictures of the process > from removing the old, and putting the new ones on. Also some side by side IS and MF front. Hard to tell since the pod is black, but whatever.
Feel free to add comments to the pictures for everyone to see them.

OLD ORIGINAL POST
Well I put on my Invisible Shield (IS) and I like the amount of protection on the ipod, but I hate the way it looks in the front. After seeing the Martin Fields (MF), I like the way that looks on the front but do not like the lack of protection on the sides.
That being said, I have ordered the MF and a replacement IS (since I messed up the adhesive a bit). So I will have both. Here is the plan for them.
1. Install the back piece of the IS on the back of the ipod
2. Separate and install the IS wheel protectors (center and wheel)
3. Let dry completely.
4. Install MF protector on the front
Using the IS on the wheels should rid the problem the MF camp is saying about it sticking on. It will also give a different texture for the wheel by using the IS.
Basically I like the protection of the IS and the look of the MF. So now I get the best of both. I should have pics up by Friday or so and I will try to take pictures of all the steps.
Thoughts?

I thought of doing this also (especially after seeing the water in the iPod thread). I like the protection and texture for the back and sides you get from IS, but the glossiness of th MF is really nice also. I'm wondering if the MF is as robust as the IS in terms of taking abuse. The video on the IS site is pretty convincing, i was planning to not even use a case becuase of that video!

I think the MF is pretty good, been reading the other topics on the MF and pretty much sold me on it. The only downside is buying 2 cases, so $40 to protect the ipod. sooks. I will get pictures as soon as it arrives, but I am disappointed in the IS not going on as clear as I originally thought. Looks like C+Rap.

The IS doesn't go on clear? That's news to me. Mine is perfectly clear.
Pretty damn good idea, I might do this too... :) waiting for more pics of the MF...

I also went with the IS/MF combo and I'm happy with it. Like the clear glossy finish of the Martin Fields on the front and the IS on the back provides good protection and is easy to grip.

The new ones are. The older ones have an orange peel texture.
Just ordered my MF for 5g and one for the Nano...

Hey Honey . . . If you are in the USA use this link to MF
http://www.overlayplus.com/US/modeldevice.asp?category=iPod
Shipping took about 3 days to me in Houston, very fast.
To remove the IS from the front, pick at a side for a bit until it starts coming up. I used some tweesers to pull it . . . but the adhesive is strong, and it almost pulled the front off the ipod.
I cleaned the adhesive from the ipod using windex and cotton cloth, and it was easy. there was not much adhesive at all, only when pulled at an angle, lifting straight up came off without anything. maybe 4 spots smaller than a flea . . . windex takes it off east.
don't use paper towels . . . remember paper = wood. i used an old cotton t-shirt to clean and remove fingerprints before applying MF on front. Good luck.

will the MF come off after sliding it in a neopreme type case (marware) and putting it in a clear case (agent 18 or xtrememac)?
I was thinking about using IS all the way... but the thought of putting water on my ipod and potentially getting inside the ipod just freaked me out....
any thoughts on that?

That's a great idea. If I get bored of my case I might buy the IS and stick it on the back.

The IS for 5G doesn't leave any texture. They seems had improved the material on newer version of IS.
I have this MF front + IS back combo too. IS application was done with Windex/Windolene method instead of soap+water. Believe me this method works like a charm!

^Can you elaborate on the Windex method?
Also... Can anyone please tell me if the MF is durable? Would I be able to use this combo without another case, and not have to worry about scratches?

Do you have a pic, or a link to a pic of the IS without the orange peel texture?
