Fellows WriteRight microthin universal screen protectors. They come in packs of 12 and are trim to fit with a grid system on the removable backing. I trimmed the first one to cover just the screen. I'm working on cutting another one for full coverage minus the wheel. They are not very appealing to look through for very long as they are similar to the Pelican screen protectors for the PSP. There is a pixelated rainbow sort of look in the screen. Its the antiglare coating. I prefer it over scratches or saran wrap however. The pack of 12 can be found at Best Buy for 13 bucks.

I have it too. It worked like a charm for the front and back of my 5G

How are you going to cut out the part for the wheel? I tried doing it but failed miserably.

I got one to cover the entire iPod but promptly removed the whole thing. I noticed when removing the first screen-only protector i had cut there was quite a bit of sticky residue which attracted dust and made installing the next one impossible. But I just stuck the transparency on top of the ipod, taped the sides with scotch tape and went to work with a fine-tip Sharpie. The just cut along the line with a very sharp knife. Cut on the outside of your line for the wheel and on the inside of the line for the button. Really good lighting helps. I used one of those magnifying glass/light rings on a swivel crane that happens to be attatched to my other desk.

As a temporary solution, I too have applied the WriteRight screen protector.
I had some remaining from my PDA, although not the correct size to fit the entire iPod, so I used 2.
I took a piece of thick paper - almost thin cardboard, and traced the outline of the iPod. Then, I cut it out with a hobby knife and then cut it in half (relative to the point in below the bottom of the screen and above the wheel.)
I then took the top portion of the paper and used it as a template to cut out the screen protector.
Next, it took some eyeballing and a few tries, but I was able to cut out the wheel section. By using the paper as a template, you can put it on top of the iPod 1st to see how it fits, then keep cutting until it is right. Use this template to cut out the 2nd WriteRight.
Apply without fingerprints (or dust if possible.) then smooth out.
I found that cutting the screen protector JUST smaller than the Ipod helps because nothing will eventually snag the edge and make the protector peel up.
I had dust get under a corner so it wouldnt stick, but using water a cloth, I cleaned off the corner and it sticks fine now.
It kinda distorts the video on the iPod because its not exactly crystal clear, but its close enough for me.
This is a cheap way it give it protection until a good hard case comes out (in my case). Hope this helps.

this, however, doesn't have the strength and tackiness as 3M or IS
