im tierd of reading "waaaa my ipod is scratched". if your too cheap (like me) to get a invisableshield or martain fields before companies start releaseing cases then USE SARAN/PLASTIC WRAP!!!!! iv never herd so many people complain about their own stupidity, i put saran warp on the day i got my ipod 5g and there NO, i repeat ABSOLUTLY NO CASES, so:
1.buy invisableshield
or
2.buy martain fields
or
3.use saran wrap
AND
STOP COMPLAINING

i am sorry but i cant believe how many a$$holes are on this forum. the whole point of a forum is to get help with something you know little about. If you dont like hearing about scratched ipods and people asking which case to buy then dont come on this section.

soon enough there will be just as many threads about people complaining about people complaining about scratches as there are people complaining about scratches. Hmm, did that make any sense? :p

I second that emotion. No one's scratch situation is different, yet the OCD kicks in and the urge to post yet another "my ipod scratched--please help" thread overwhelms the masses. ;)
One wouldn't even have to use the search button, just go into any of the forums and read what it says...

I smell a poll topic...
Which is more annoying?
A) The 101st "My iPod is scratched!" thread
B) The 101st "Should I get black or white?" thread

a big problem is that no one wants to dig throught the multiple forums. IF you guys dont like digging through them, than DON'T! I have never seen so many rude people than on this forum. People just want help figuring out which is the best of the best. Most of the people that come on this forum, including me, dont know much about ipods or ipod cases.

I think the point about these two particular questions is there's not much advice that can be offered in either situation. One is a simple matter of taste (unless you're in the "black shows scratches more" camp) and the other is a situation that usually can't be helped. Once it's scratched, recommending cases and such isn't going to help. All we can offer is sympathy, and I don't think that's what folks are looking for.

Also, when you think about it, many problems aren't satisfied with a 'one post' answer. Some things need to be discussed, in order to get an idea of the general consensus here. Therefore, when you start another post on an exisiting topic, you are effectively starting the discussion all over again, which isn't helpful to you or the rest of the board. Now, when people read your post, they will tend to be impatient and not give you as complete an answer as they have once given. Granted, some threads do tend to swerve off topic, but there is no reason to go ahead and make a new post to try to 're-ignite' conversation. This isn't for 'scratching' topics specifically, but for all topics on common problems.
my 2 cents

I do agree with djcslice that people shouldn't be losing their cool in something as trivial as a digital audio player message board. And even if for some reason you have a short fuse and are easily aggrevated, there is no reason to be a jerk about it. But, it's the internet. What are you gonna do?

you know, if you see those kind of posts, don't answer them or ignore. that's it. this is what I do because there are so many wasted posts here.

you know what would help cut down the amount of scratch posts? people with absolutely nothing to say actually choosing to say nothing.
every single scratch thread has some moron trying to pretend he's a mod and telling people to look at other threads. But if you look at another thread then you just see more morons hijacking the thread. (like we've done right here.)
either apply to be a mod or just avoid threads that annoy you because the bottom line is that just because it doesnt affect you doesnt make the issue any less legitimate. these things scratch and people want to talk about it.
