hi

Can someone recommend a headset (headphone and mic) suitable for podcasting?

Which type are best? ...

* small earpiece with small mic (no padding on mic)
* small earpiece with padded mic
* large earpiece (i.e. the one's that more or less block out noise) with small mic (no padding on mic)
* large earpiece with padded mic
* headset with only one earpiece
* digital headset (i.e. that plugs in via USB and has a small converter attached)

... so many options!

I'm looking to spend maybe upwards of $50 or more on a set and looking at getting two since I will be podcasting with a friend over skype so I'm guessing it would be best if we used the same type headsets.

cheers

edit: oh, will probably be using audacity

We use that one at work, for the podcast they do.

I picked it out, because I liked the idea of having the noise cancelling microphone so we wouldn't have to worry about the environment we were in too much.

I was looking at a USB headset at the beginning but it said it caused problems on windows machines, althouh it said they work great on Macs we sprung for the analog kind just because the only Mac we have at the office is my bosses powerbook.

Also for the Podcast I would like to ask if you would like to try this program I have been working on. Here's the address: www.thenickster.net

What it is designed to do is create an iTunes compatible RSS feed by just filling in the forms. I created it after I spent about an hour at work creating a feed. It hasn't had any real world testing, and was wondering if you wouldn't mind testing it.

yeah I'd be happy to, although we won't start podcasting until another few weeks and even then we are wondering whether to release them weekly or create a backlog.

Any other recommendations on headsets or reasons for why particular types are good?
