I'm planning to buy the Song E888LP or E888SP and I was wondering what the differences are. I think it has to do with the length of the cord and a case? Is it true the LP models have longer cords? Can someone give me the exact length of the cords on these models? Because I'd rather have a cord that's long enough than something too long. Or longer than too short. I've tried these earphones and I loved the clarity even though the bass isn't as big as the ex-71's and 81's. So no recommendations please. Thanks.

SP = short cord (long enough to reach breast pocket) with a 1 meter extension. The extension cord also adds a lot of weight to the cord. The extension is used when there is not a wired remote to use in conjunction with the earbuds.

LP = standard length at about 3 feet. This is usually ideal for most people.

Actually that's not entirely correct:

SP: Short cord version only (i.e MDR-E888SP) - the E888SP comes with a leather carry pouch. It does not come with an extension cable.

LP: Long cord version - The E888LP comes with a plastic case which you wind the cord around.

SL: Short cord version with extension cable included (i.e MDR-EX71SL) - AFAIK the E888 does not come in an SL version, but the EX71SL comes with a soft fabric carry pouch.
