View Full Version : Re-applying InvisibleShield

Just put an InvisibleShield on my new 60gig 5G last night, made sure there were no bubbles or anything underneath, and put it away for 24 hours, as per installation instructions.

Except that when I came back to it, there are bubbles, or at least some sort of irregularities, covering an unfortunate amount of the screen. Enough that it's distorting video images, and doing even worse things to the menu, or anything with a white background.

So I'm wondering if anyone has removed their Invisibleshield, and if so, what kind of gunk it has left behind on the screen? And how to get it off, if that's even possible.

Also, is there any ability to re-apply an InvisibleShield? Right now, what I've got is pretty much useless. It doesn't really look like bubbles. More like an area with a bunch of tiny little droplets underneath it, or an area where the adhevise didn't work properly. Very annoying. But if it can be rectified, and the shield re-installed so that it works, that would be ideal... because I really want to prevent this thing from getting scratched up.

Any help would be most appreciated!

I think it would be close to impossible to reapply it after you let it set. Removal would be fine, but getting it to stick down again would be a mute point.

You mean a moot point? ;)

I thought the claim was that you should be able to remove and reapply them multiple times. We'll have to see how well people who've had them for a while like them and if they try to reapply them.

I know I won't be the first to try it. :)

Why would it matter if they get beat up during removal if the company stands behind lifetime replacement?

Use 'em. install 'em right, remove 'em only when needed and you'll be fine.

I wish other companies stood behind their stuff like this.

Don't abuse it for the rest of us, though...please.

It shouldn't leave behind any gunk. At this point if you remove the IS it will stretch out enough to be unusable.

Quoted from the Invisible Shield website:

"Refunds and replacements do not apply to product which has been inappropriately installed. Please read the application instructions carefully before installing your invisibleSHIELD."

You may want to give it some more time. The look tends to improve over the course of 2-3 days.
