I've ordered an InvisibleShield but I am tempted to cancel after hearing the MF will now have two parts and has a wheel cutout (which was one of the main advantages of IShield imo).

I used to have a silicone case for my 4G which did the job well. But it kinda added bulk and it had this strange grippy, sticky(?) feeling to it.

I've decided to avoid silicone cases altogether for these reasons. Bear in mind, I will be putting my iPod directly in my pocket without any other protective shell other than IShield/MFields.

Which would you recommend?

Has InvisibleShield got that sticky silicone feeling? Will Martin Fields warrant as suitable protection on its own?

We might know better when somebody posted writeup and pictures on the MF...

Just got my IS today, and overall I am not impressed so far. The way it came, they had the overlays in a little baggie, with a carboard InvisibleShield business card which mashed into the plastic during shipping. This left gouge marks on it, and overall gave it a not so good look. I had to PEEL the business card off the damned thing.

Hopefully tommorow maybe it will "heal" itself or something like they say.

The feel of the IS is like a slightly rippled brand new ipod screen sticker. The apple sticker is perfectly smooth, and has that "soft plastic" feel to it, while the IS has a similar feel, but isn't perfectly smooth with slight ripples on the surface. Feel pretty close to rubbing a thick ziploc baggie, or running my finger over the screen on my sony xbrite glossy LCD.

The above picture is what my shield came like in the mail. There is no doubt the shotty packaging caused the damage. One would think with the profit on these suckers that they might opt for a bit better shipping method. Sheets probably cost them about 10-15 cents, packaging maybe 50-70 cents and postage was 37. All they needed to do was not stick the business card in it, or put some sort of better protection in the envelope and it may have arrived in better shape.

There have been a few polls on the same topic for some reason.

Anyway, I got my InvisibleShield and installed it. I am very satisfied with the results. Here are pros and cons:

+ Shield seems very strong. I am quite comfortable leaving my iPod on the desk or in my pocket sans case.
+ Screen is not distorted in anyway. Very clear actually.
+ The custom cut is worth the premium you pay. Yes, we all know that the plastic can be brought elsewhere in bulk but I will definitely not be able to cut it professionally into shape as ISheild have done to cover pretty much 99% of the surface.
+ The surface has grip but its not the nasty sticky feeling that most silicone skins have.
+ Adhesive is VERY strong - but it apparently doesn't leave any goo if you peel it off?

- Installation is terribly difficult. The instructions provided ain't very good either. Patience is key here and you will experience times of doubt when you think you have messed up (especially when the flaps seemingly do not want to stick).
- The time required. This took me a good few hours. Also, a long time to rest is essential.

Overall, looking at the pros/cons of the other, the InvisibleShield seems the best choice IMO. But the only disadvantage is the installation method as you have the added risk that you *may* damage your iPod.

It'll be interesting to see whether InvisibleShield will be offering pre-installed iPods on sale for those who may not like the idea of carrying out the installation themselves...
