I kinda like the packaged one. iSkins are cool but I like the sleek look of my new black ipod, and probably won't cover it anytime soon.

I'm waiting too. Agent18 told me to check back in a month. I think in the mean time I'm gonna try one of those Martin Fields things.

I have been using a Sumo case the past week that I got from Compusa. I still have not even taken the plastic off the face either. I am waiting for a good case to come out first; but at least mine has some decent protection.

I'm probably going to get the new Speck see-thru case eventually...
But 4G iPods didn't really need cases, you could just put it in your pocket, I'm hoping I'll be able to do that with my 5G without having it get ruined, but I'm afraid to do so. I like the case that it is supplied with. Sure, it's nothing to great, but it feels so soft, and iPod loves it!

yea... i sent an email asking when their new cases will be released and they emailed me back that i should check back during thanksgiving time.

I always get a case cos I cant stand my stuff to get scratched or marked. Im worried however that the new skin or case screen protectors will impede the viewing of videos on the new iPod.
Which skin looks the best so far?

Wow. I just made my own. It was fairly easy and only took like ten minutes tops.
I grabed the plastic from the cd cover from the box, and the cheap foamy thing. Made a few cuts, then some strong tape, and whalaa. I have my own little very soft ipod skin protector.
It's ghetto's as hell, but it's much better than wasting 40 bucks on a skin or case.

Speck have a load of ipod video case on there site.
Ive heard Zcover are going to be the first out and we are expecting to be shipping them from next friday.

All the reviews trashed the included case (i guess the previous gens had better included cases? i didn't own them) but I kind of like it. It feels nice, is snug and even though the material is not expensive, it's attractive.

i ordered one of those invisible shields, and plan on getting a vaja when it comes out. i did pick up a dlo jam jacket for a 20gb 4g yesterday at worst buy for 15 bucks for added protection. fits pretty good. i will probably get one of those slip on cases when i get the invisible shields in to tide me over until the vajas come out.

For the poster talking about the included case. I know the 4th gen didn't include a case, so this is obviously a step in the right direction. BTW, in case you didn't realize this, you can use the click wheel while in the case (granted you won't see the screen, but you can change colume and skip to the next song and pause and stuff.

Went to the overlayplus.com site and they seem to be shipping the Martin Fields Overlay Plus Screen Protector. I thought someone said they covered both sides for the iPod 5G but the web site makes it seem like one side.
Can anyone confirm if its just the front or both sides?

They said ONE set of the Martin Fields Overlay Plus Screen Protector (iPod 5G Video) will cover both the back and front of the iPod. So i guess this is a better and cheaper deal than the Invisible Shield.
Its only $12.99 + 2.99 shipping.

Some people here must have experience with Invisible Shield AND Martin Fields.
The photos of the Invisible Shield didn't look that transparent. How about protection which is better.
Feedback would be appreciated. Many of us are sitting on the fence.
Last time I ordered something from MF it took a while to get, coz it was shipped out from Asia (either HK or Singapore)...

I have a question I got the Ipod yesterday . Its still in its plastic wrapping. From what I hear I am afraid to take it off and put it in the cover Apple gave me I mean I dont want to ruin it ? anyone actually put it in the provided cover without scratchig it ? Also I found some Pda screen protecters can i just cut em up am put em on the ipod ?

its fine to take it out of the first wrapper
there are two wrappers on the ipod. one that goes around the whole thing and the other one is just on the face. You can take the one that wraps around off, but hold on to it, later it can be used as protection. The other one will start to peel after a while, which is what happened to me. No i am using the cd sleeve as protection of the face until i get a case.
