I have about 600 GB of Divx/Xvid, and DV-AVI video on my computer I would love to put on the video IPOD when i go pick one up...anyone have any idea of a good way to convert the video I have into H.264 or plain MPEG 4?

Search is a good idea.
I use PSP Video 9 for mp4 transfers.

You should only have to follow the second part of the intructions to get your vids to the right format. If you don't have the programs, try looking at versiontracker.com

what about us non mac computer people eh
