My iPod photo (4th gen. 30Gb) used to be Mac formatted and everything worked fine. Then I decided to get my iPod Windows formatted.
I have all my music backed up and tried to restore it using a Windows laptop (XP home). After it restored my iPod, it says that I have to plug in to an external power adapter which I don't have (and have no intention on getting)?? What should I do??

Now my ipod's screen is permanently stuck with a picture of the external power adapter whenever I click any of the buttons. And even after resetting the ipod (menu and select buttons).

Please help!

Welcome. It needs to be charged.

You have no choice. It needs you to plug in the AC adapter so that it can finish with the new firmware flash process (only takes about 30 seconds or so). Then you will not need the AC adapter anymore.

Just borrow it from a friend or someone who has an IPOD or go out and buy a new one to do the fix then return it. That always works.

Hope this helps you. I had the exact same problem but now fixed and working good as new.

i had this problem with mine but when i plugged it in the apple screen came up for a second, then the screen started flashing and it turned off. 3 hours later and my ipod still won't turn on!!

Any ideas? I am currently leaving it for 24 hours to drain and see if that changes anything, but i am worried, and i am due to fly to the UK in a 5 days so i don't want to be without my music!

peace out
