I want to directly copy the files to my ipod using windows explorer rather than going through Itunes. Is this possible? If yes how?

Ive heard you can use winamp but dont hold me to this. There maybe a plugin for it out there. But itunes by far is the best for managing your mp3s. Specially if you have over a thousand

www.mediamonkey.com is one possibility.
There is also Anapod http://www.redchairsoftware.com/anapod/ and EphPod

I only use Anapod by Redchair Software to transfer data to and from my iPods ( I own two) Sees the iPods as a hard drive. I've never liked all the restrictions with Itunes and I think Anapod is the best money I've spent on iPod accessories

RealPlayer will transfer music too. I don't think you can do it with Win Explorer. RealPlayer won't do Audible audio books. Audible has tied it up so if you have an iPod you have to use itunes.

Add J. River Media Center to that list.
