After owning several Garmin GPS units over the years and finally, here in the last few months purchasing an iPod, I am amazed at the vulnerability of the iPod's display area to fine scratching!
I have never seen this occur in any of my Garmin GPS units although they use a plastic material also and are generally used harder and in outdoor environments.
Apple ought to utilize this material, whatever it is, for the plastic parts of iPods. It would surely make for a much improved product!

I doubt you will have the shiny polished effect with the GPS's plastic.

No, actually Garmin's screen surface is as shiny as glass, but it simply seems to be a harder, more scratch resistant material.

It may be shiny, but that doesnt mean it has the same translucent, glow-type plastic as the ipod

I have a garmin gps also. I always thought it wa some kind of glass. I've had mine for three years and the screen still looks perfect.

well if apple made a non scratch ipod then it would put iCleaner out of business. just a thought

then iCleaner could advance onto iPaint, so you can safely color the ipod whatever color you want...........a glow in the dark blue photo ipod would be pretty sweet....haha
