I just swapped out a lite-on CD-R/RW drive with a older TDK CD-R/RW drive and while everything works perfectly, when I open iTunes and load a CD into the Cd drive to import the songs iTunes never shows the CD or really even acknowledges the drive. However, in the preferences menu it is selected as the drive to use for burning. If I open the file manually through the my computer folder and tell it to play or import via iTunes either nothing happens at all or the program opens up but it still doesn't acknowledge the CD. I've even tried going to the file menu and using the add a file feature but when I select the song and hit enter nothing happens, it just goes back to the library screen. Thanks in advance for your time and help.

Welcome. You probably need to update the drivers for the CD burner. Go to the manufacturers website and they should have a support section and look for the most up-to-date drivers for that burner. If you need to contact the tech support section at the site.

I had this problem with iTunes and updating the drivers for the burner got iTunes to recognize my burner again. Try it and see if it resolves the problem.
