What is a broadband connection used for? Is it absolutely needed? I use dial up (no broadband here at the moment). Will this be okay?

I don't plan to purchase music nor do I plan on using pictures or album art. I would still be able to update the iPod right?

sigh, one of the dumbest questions i've ever heard, but i guess there's a first thign for everything. broadband is another way of saying DSL meaning fast internet. and yes you are still able to update your iPod, internet has nothing to do with that.

It would appear I asked in the wrong manner. What I had meant to say was "What is broadband used for in terms of iTunes and iPod". I know what broadband is, just not if it was needed for any important opperation of either of those things.

Thank you for pointing out how "stupid" my question was. I certainly hope if you ever inquire about anything that those who reply do so in a manner much more polite than the one you did.

You'll want to use you internet connection so iTunes can get the info on the CDs you import - it gets that from the internet. Dial-up is fine for that, though.

You might want to get an updated version of iTunes or the iPod software - that'll take a loooong time with dial-up, but if you can keep a connection up long enough it'll eventually get it. Maybe the Apple store can give them to you on CD, or burn one if you bring in a blank.

I spent time downloading itunes to see if I liked it. It only took about an hour and a half. I figure if future updates are similar in size then I should be fine. ^_^
