Hi everyone!

Recently I botched my XP install after I got a virus (worthless XP), I am a devoted Linux user, so I still have no idea how to fix it, and I really have no need for XP beyond iTunes (Linux can't recognize my USB).

Does iTunes run properly under Safe Mode? It will start, but I would not want to risk throwing away all the time I have used to get all of my songs on there, just to find out it won't work.

I have a 30GB iPod Photo if it matters.

Any help is appreciated!

Can't you use the XP repair facility to complete your install?
I'd spend a little time getting rid of the virus if iwas you (last thing you need is a virus getting onto your ipod and using up valuble space). Pop over to AVG and download their free antivirus software - also go pickup hijack this, spyware blaster, spybot search and destroy and adaware. Back in safe mode run all the sweeps and hopefully your pesky virus will be removed.
My first guess would be that safe mode won't let you detect the ipod as it doesn't install the drivers (hence why its safe mode - used to solve driver conflicts amoung other problems).
