Okay, the other day I had to restore my pc to factory settings, and I can't find my installation cd anywhere. I downloaded iTunes and the latest iPod updater and my computer recognizes it as an iPod, but it won't work, and I don't know how to install it on my computer again without the disc. My question is how I can install it without it if there is a way??? Please help. Thanks.

The disc would only have the version of iTunes and the iPod updater that was current at the time so you should be able to download them instead. However there have been a ton of problems with iTunes 5 and 5.0.1 which would be what you downloaded and is seems you are yet another victim.
My solution was to revert to iTunes 4.9 and it would prolly work for you too. I posted instructions on how to do so.
