Okay, so I want to have a mount for my ipod in my car, I've already found one online that's specifically for my jetta. Do I need to buy a holder for the ipod to go on the mount? How does it attach to the mount? If I have to buy a holder for it to go on the mount why don't they sell them together?

Yes, you need a mount and a "holder". They don't sell them togther because there would be too many combinations of vehicles and devices. The "holder" will attach to the mount with screws. The website explains this.
