Hello,

After running the latest ipod update on an ipod mini, I receive the following error message when attemtping to update the songs.

"Attempting to copy to the disk "ipod name" failed. You do not have enough access privileges for this operation."

Apart from running the ipod updater, nothing has changed.

Could this be something to do with using 2 ipods on the same PC? Each user has a seperate Windows ID and uses their own itunes library.

I've searched the forums and seen the same question asked before, but it was unanswered - I'm hoping that someone will be kind enough to help me - it's driving me mad!

Thanks,

Chris

If you don't have access privileges then you need to redo your account or set up a new one for yourself or make sure the other person has signed out of their account. That may be the problem. You both must make sure that you sign in and out of your accounts.

Thanks for the suggestions Audrey, I appreciate you taking the time to reply.

I've not changed any of the XP user account privileges, but it looks like I may have to delve into the dark depths of permissions in safe mode.

Time to hit the F8 key I suppose!

Hi Can you let me know if you managed to solve this as I am having the same problem on a vista machine - and I cannot appear to solve it!
Cheers

Kevin.

Hi Kevin,

It was a long time ago, but I did solve the problem, the details are a bit hazy.

I now update my ipod and my wife's ipod on my windows user account, it's been working satisfactorily like that for some time. I don't think I was able to set it up so that we could each sync the ipods when using our own Windows user account. I suspect that it is all down to Apple being a bit over the top on their security. It used to work that way, but not after the update.

You could also try booting into safe mode and altering the permissions on your itunes library, I may have tried that, but to be honest I cannot remember - it was nearly 2 years ago!

Good luck,

Chris
