This is ridiculous, and I am about at the end of my rope. SImply put, since I downloaded itunes 5, I am having the same problems many others are. Whenever I launch itunes i get the error message that says the software for communicating w/the ipod is not installed properly and that I need to reinstall itunes. So, I have done so, but no dice. I downloaded the updated version, same story. Furthermore, I have tried two different versions of the ipod updater, the latest and an older one, and I get the dreaded ipod service error with both. So basically, my ipods (a 3g 40gig and a 1gig shuffle, connected through a Belkin dock) are orphans. They function fine otherwise, but I cannot update them, which is exasperating given that I have added a good deal of new music since encountering this problem. My question is this: are others out there still having this problem, even after the updated version of itunes that was supposed to address these problems came out? I have read about all the other possible ways to fix this problem, and frankly, I don't have the time or patience to go through them all, and to be honest I don't really think I should have to. Apple needs to get it's crap straight and fix this problem. I have spent alot of money on my ipods and at itunes, and is it so much to ask to expect for their equipment/software to work?? Are they even aware that their pathetic little attempt to remedy these problems has failed miserably? I am getting a bit irritated, and I just want my ipods to work again! Help!
