I currently have a Pioneer P80MP and I have the Pioneer ipod adapter, and its nice because I get to listen to my ipod in my car, however, the interface for it really sucks! If I want to use the head unit to change artists or whatever, it would take me an hour to get half way through the alphabet, so I am forced to unplug the ipod every time i want to change artists and it is kind of a pain if im driving by myself. I know Alpine has a head unit out that is supposed to be pretty friendly in terms of the ipod, its the one with the glide touch bar. Has anyone hooked up this head unit or another head unit with an ipod controller and had a good experience with it in terms that it doesn't take 30 seconds to load in between each artists. I'm looking for speed compartive to the ipod. Any suggestions, and links to where I can buy would be great!

I believe you are sort of stuck unless you want to replace the head unit. I keep hearing a lot of complaints about the pioneer adapter and I don’t blame you. Having to unplug the iPod ect sort of kills the whole concept of having a working iPod in your car.

To answer your question the best aftermarket iPod connection and deck combo IMO would be the Neo Ion with an Eclipse cd player. That is what I am planning on getting when I am ready to put an aftermarket system in my car… I have been in car audio for awhile now and I cant say enough good things about both companies along with their products.

Cheapest way would be to dump the pioneer interface and go with a basic i-Bus adapter. Control the tunes thru your iPod.

iPod->docking adapter->male mini to male rca-> Pioneer CD-RB10 adapter -> head unit.

docking adapter ~$20-$30
mini to rca cable $3
CD-RB10 ~$30

Right that’s a cheap solution but I thought he wanted “the best”. I still think you should look into an Eclipse deck because their equipment is excellent and I have heard good things about them working with the neo. One thing I heard is that it will work with their navigation units and if that’s true I am not sure if I can wait until December haha… :p

wgill871: docking adapters......monster low profile, Sik Imp, etc...

GavinD: spend yer money as you wish. Seems stupid to throw out a perfectly good head unit.
