I am trying to use my iPod in my car. I have been surfing and reading reviews until my eyes bleed and I still can't make up my mind.
Can anyone give me some direction? I don't want to shell out $100 and be disappointed.
I hear the DLO Transpod is good, but what are your experiences?
Are there any better?
Also, which offers better sound? FM transmitters or cassette adapters?
Thanks!

I'm sure the nice folks and threads at the In-Car Solutions (http://forums.ilounge.com/forumdisplay.php?s=&daysprune=30&forumid=44) forum will help you out. :)

You're right, I haven't. I just found this forum yesterday.

First basic question - does your current audio head unit have an auxilliary input, either s 3.5mm jack socket or twin RCA sockets? If so, then a simple cable from the headphone socket of your iPod to the AUX in will do the trick.
If you don't have an AUX in, you could possibly add one. Alternatively, does your head unit have a CD changer port? If it does then there is a variety of options available, depending on the vehicle. Check out www.mp3yourcar.com for these options
If you don't have a CD changer port, and can't add an AUX in, you are pretty much stuck with either the FM transmitter or the cassette adapter, although an FM modulator, which sits between the aerial and the head unit and sends a direct FM signal from the iPod is probably better than either of these.

Well said…
Another thing is if you want quality sound then look into getting an adapter that makes a direct connection. If we knew what kind of car you are putting this in we could give you some better suggestions.

Wow. I am not what you would call an audio techy by a long shot. I don't have an upgraded audio system in my car (Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 2005). It's the run of the mill audio system that I have installed. I don't think I can input anything directly into it without any modifications.
So, I guess I am left with the FM transmitter then?

Not so fast.... If you have a factory headunit WITHOUT a CD changer you should have an open aux jack on the back.
This should work to hook your iPod to your factory headunit

To throw my two cents in, I have an 04 Grand Cherokee hooked up with a FM Modulator, no infinity upgrade or anything and I don't have an aux jack on the back. The FM Modulator might be the easiest and cheapest way to go. I've had the FM Modulator for a couple of months and it's worked fine after you get the right cables because the stock radio on my Jeep needed reverse FM cables. Now that I just got some aftermarket infinity reference series speakers I am picking up alot of static and that anoying buzzing noise when I hit the gas. So if you want to stick with the stock speakers, it's ok I guess.
Right now I'm looking for a different solution so I can get rid of the static. Anyone have any ideas? Trying to stay with stock radio.
