Ok, ok , 10 gb I know....

What I mean is that I am after my first iPod.
Bought a mini for my eldest daughter , and its cracking.

I am after a colour iPod.
Where I am buying from they have 20 gb, 30 and 60.
60 is too big for me..
20 or even 30 would be fine.
but other than the capacity , is there any other differences at all. Size, battery , functions, etc etc.

The 20 is £180 , local to me, and the 30 is only £15 more , but I hear the 20gb is the newer model.

If anyone could help please, as I am going to get and get one now, but not sure which one to go for. Probably 20gb as its the newer model...

Your help please, and which one would you buy..

Rgds

There aren't any differences between the two except that one if a iPod photo while the other is just a regular iPod. Let me explain further. The 30GB iPod (with a color screen) is called the iPod photo and it runs the same firmware as the new iPods with color screens. The 20GB iPod (color screen) is just a regular iPod now, Apple has done away with their "Photo" naming scheme.

I say spend the small extra amount and get the 30GB iPod. It will be a bit thicker than the 20GB but the extra 10GB of storage will come in handy if you decide to add more music to your library, want to store a large amount of photos, or want to use the iPod as an external hard drive.

Excellent , many thanks for the reply Kornchild.
The 30gb it is then, even though I dont think I will be filling up the 20gb player let alone the extra 10gb.

I have seen that they both have a stated "15hrs Playtime" in the batteries of both units, but I was unaware of what firmware either player uses , as the 20gb is the newer player in the range.

Size/weight is something I am trying to find out about. I know there is not alot of difference between the two , but I need to find out the difference of both , if anyone knows or has a link where I can see the size/weight please, I would be most appreciative.

Many thanks again for your help,

Neil

i dont know where the link is but im dead sure the size and weight is the exact same for the 20 and the 30

the size and weight of the 20 is in the link (just scroll down some)
http://www.apple.com/ipod/color/specs.html

i have a 30 gig and I dont find the weight or size a problem at all (not that its fat and heavy) i think its perfect.

I thought the only true difference between the 20 and the 30 was the size of the drive. Apple has actually moved down to the 20 (imho) to differentiate it further from the 60gb size.

Definitely get the 30! I also thought I'd never fill up my iPod (a 30), but have now had to buy a 60, just to finally load everything all in one place.

Cheers and good luck!

edit** PS If you have a digital camera, all that extra drive space can be a great help when you travel, if you also spring for the camera connector. I regularly back up my 512MB CF cards to the ipod when I am taking large amounts of pictures.
