Please choose the appropriate forum for this topic. Thank you. i wanna wrap my nano in a similar shaped vinyl cutout as the "don't steal music" plastiv the nano shipped in also. where did u all get ur vinyl sheets to do this?

sum hav suggested walmart or home depot. i visited both this weekend, and the clueless sales associates didnt kno what i was talking about (i asked for sheets of vinyl). so specifically what section of walmart did u find ur vinyl sheets?

thanks

Try a craft store that sells oil paints, paint brushes, hobby equipment etc.

They most likely would have something like that. Well over here they seem to. I can't name a store because I'm in OZ but large department stores stock a wide range of products and the staff are usually hopeless at knowing what they have.

A smaller store would be better. Even a hardware store possibly.

Try stores like Michaels, Jo Ann Fabrics, etc.

wal-mart has it in the fabric section. if you can't find it, i can mail you some. you can only buy yards or half-yards of it, so i've got a bunch left over...'clear' black, 'clear' tint, and 2 thicknesses of transparent.

I went to my nearest Walmart and they did have it in the fabric section. I got so much and I only payed 44 cents. I got a 1/4 yard and that can make a heck of a lot of screen protectors. At first I didn't think it would work but I cut the size I needed for the screen and rubbed it on and it works perfect. Can't beat the price for that amount of covers.

My question is...Does this type of vinyl come back off?

yes, it does. there's no adhesive.

i switched to a thinner vinyl on sunday, and this is damn near invisible. the thinner vinyl allows for a tighter fit on the corners, so there is absolutely as few air bubbles as possible.

i wish the thicknesses came with descriptions i understood so i could relay what size i was using.

Can you cover the whole nano with the vinyl. I think I tried that but it didn't work.

I went to Walmart and bought the 1/4 yard of the vinyl for $.44, and that was about the best move I've made so far for my nano. Now, I have my decalgirl.com skin, and a tiny vinyl piece completing the cover. It took me awhile to work out the bubbles, because the roll wasn't very smooth, but who's complaining for less than $.50, and about 10 minutes of effort? Plus, that 1/4 yard will make about 100 or more of those little babies! so I shouldn't need to invest in any more screen protectors ever!
Then, I was happy to find that Best Buy has clearanced the iPod socks...so I bought a set of those. I hooked a mini carabiner clip through the little apple tag loop, and the nano now hangs nicely from my belt!
PS, the cheaper of the two vinyls is the same thickness of the decalgirl skin, so if you cut it right, it feels pretty much seamless!

BC, if you want, lay the vinyl out in the sun, as that is supposed to smoothen it out. lady at a fabric store told me that. seems to work.

Is the vinyl from Walmart the same as the decalgirl's product?

Works just as good!!!

hmm.. wish there was a walmart accessible from the subway...

if there's no adhesive, how does it stay on? is it like those vinyl label things you get when you change your oil?

static cling, i guess?

yeah, it's like the vinyl label things.

That's what I was thinking but it worked somehow. Just rub it on and it stays.

Sweet, remembered today there's a Sprawlmart at the Dufferin station (Toronto)

Picked up some vinyl, and I can say it works much better than the ripoff decalgirl sells.. it's much clearer, easier to see the screen.. it was worth the hell that is Sprawlmart... (sooooooo many zombies.....)

She wouldn't cut anything smaller than 1/2 yard, so I've got a TON of the stuff.. for $2 :D
