Ok I kind of hate my first post to be so satirical in nature but here it goes...

picked up my nano 4g (white) yesterday and now have a 60gig 4th gen iPod, shuffle along with this one to boot. I had read a ton of things concerning scratches etc. and this is my solution for a temporary case at least which will suffice to protect the unit from scratching. I will spare the pictures as it is too easy.

do you still have your packaging? if not, well too bad, don't bother reading on and find a corner to sulk in. If so you have a free temporary case until the actual ones hit the market.

1) DO NOT remove the stickey film on front of it, just cut away about 1/3rd of the tab that hangs off the end so it doesn't block the headphones jack.

2) cut a small hole on the bottom of the wrapper sleeve(you even get to choose which end is the bottom!) to allow the headphone jack to connect when you re-wrap this baby.

3) carefully, CAREFULLY slide the nano back in it's wrapper.

4) re-attach sticky tab.

5) insert headphones and rock!

Now I guess the real deal breaker for some of you is that you will have to remove the nano from it's ultra-cool wraper (with quick instructions in english and the 'don't steal music' written in multi language) to attach the usb cable however, I personally see it as a small price to pay. Besides you still have the tacky front cover film attached to protect the screen in case you accidentally drop a car on it while you are updating your newest extension of yourself.

For the really advanced you can cut out a slot for the usb conntector if you feel wild! I am not sure that any undue stress on the unit could break the little bit of plastic left on the end thus compromising the entire integrity of the case

As I save every scrap of packaging for apple products I found this an easy process. I hope you do as well.

Oh the cost? nada, nothing zip!

Disclaimer : I am not responsible for any distress of the nano and/or said packaging caused by end user modification. I do not know if it voids the warranty and if you are not sure contact apple before accomplishing this wrapping modification

now if I can only find my altoids...
