Good, easy to make cases?

I'll be getting my Nano in two weeks and I need to be able to make a good cheap case for it. Does keeping it in it's original plastic wrapper keep it somewhat clean? Would putting a few microfiber clothes in a hard glasses case and drilling a hole for the headphones work any good? Any ideas? Thanks.
