I've searched everywhere and there just seems to be nothing available for any of the new I-drive BMWs. I am not interested in FM solutions, and it does not have a cassette drive. Any one have any ideas? Anyone here of any rumours of when something might be available? Funny that bmw-ipod integration gets so much press, when most of their new models are the most ipod unfriendly cars out there.

BMW's with the built in LCD and all that navigation stuff can't have ipod adapters.

We have an '05 525i and the ipod adapter was not an option. Only the 3's, X3's and X5's can get ipod adapters afaik. Either that or you have to forfeit the media console/navigation/LCD setup.

Why not just get an auxiliary input jack put in the glovebox? You won't be able to control the Pod from the steering wheel but at least you'll be Ipodded, and you will have volume control from the wheel. Plus, you'll be able to actually select what you want to listen to -- a real boon vs the playlist limitation in my ipodded BMW setup (which while having its limitations IS awesome, by the way!)

Yeah, we don't even have navigation. I think most of the new models have the idrive with lcd standard. The potential for an ipod interface controlled by the Idrive UI is pretty high. You could make it as good as the ipod itself without much problem. I hope someone is planning this. The ultimate would be a bluetooth solution.

I have no idea if that can be done. I can't imagine it would be a simple thing though. The idrive assimulates the stereo functions, so I believe some kind of computer reprogramming would be necessary combined with some kind of adapter that converts the cd changer input into rca plugs. I don't think any of this exists. Could be wrong though.
