Is it just me, or are the prices for the cases out of control? Seems like the starting point is $29.99. Really? Thirty bucks for a piece of plastic or rubber to cover my ipod? I've noticed that these types of covers are way less for other electronic products - I can get a nice leather cover for my cell phone (about the same size of an iPod mini) for $12.
Just my .02, but the prices for these cases are getting ridiculous.

they charge what they think people are willing to pay. There are several people who own more than one case.
I made my own because of the high prices.

leys just hope theres more companies coming up with cases, with more competition the price should lower. i am definitely not paying 30 bucks for a case. id go get myself a dock first.

Agreed that it seems like an ideal time to start manufacturing cool cases and selling 'em for less.
The only risk is perception - you get what you pay for, hence pricier cases must be better.
Anyone else feel like going in on a side business?

They are too expensive. The really shady side is how prices don't change appreciably when you move from a case that fits a 60GB regular iPod down to a similar case for a mini, or heck even a shuffle sometimes.

yes many cases out there can start being expensive at 20 dollars in my opinion, i really think that they should make a case at 10-15 dollars that would be good.

Yes they are....but are we still going to buy them...indeed....so I guess they know what there doing as far as setting prices goes.

what isn't "too expensive"? spending more than $200 on a music player is "too expensive", but it's easy to fool myself into thinking that i NEED it. just convince yourself you NEED a case, and all will be well.

EBay is for cheap cases. You can get silicon iSkin type cases for a few bucks for regular iPods. If you don't want to pay $20 or $30 for a nano case, just wait a bit for cheap versions to appear on eBay.

I agree, $29.99 is way to much to pay for some [censored] silicon/plastic/etc case. But some ppl are desperate and rich.

right now the nano market is small. there are tons of options for cases for your 20gb ipod, but not for your nano. so prices can be higher. I'm sure they'll put them down later. until then, just get a decal or something, and find something to store it in. if you really need a case, buy it.
