Anyone know how to convert a headphone line out to the ipod connector. Reason I ask is that I want to use the Bose Sounddock with other accessories. Line out from computer/laptop/cd player/tv...to bose sounddock.
There's got to be someone who's not electronically challenged.
The pinout for the dock connector is available here:
http://pinouts.ru/data/ipod_pinout.shtml
Finding a male docking connector to connect to the Bose SoundDock might be more of a problem, but I'm sure if you look around they are available somewhere. Once you have both parts, then it is a simple case of connecting the audio wires on the dock connector to the corresponding audio wires from your input source.

After a bit of searching the dock connectors are manufactured by JAE, so it might be worth getting in touch with them about how to get them.

if i understand corerectly what you want to do is make an adapter from the "bose sound dock" to any old 3.5 mm stereo source?
if this is the case you will need a female ipod 30 pin connector and a 3.5 mm stereo plug.
electrically all you need to do is connect the cores L R and Ground to the appropiate pins on each connector.
i have 30 pin femail connectors available by the way,

Hey there!
I’m Frank from Cologne/Germany. By searching the web, finding informations about my idea, I found this thread here. Even it’s an older thread, it’s almost similar to my problem/idea.
Here we go:
In my VW Touran, I’ve put in an ipod adapter (http://www.mexcars.de/rev_vwipod.htm)from VW. To be able to put any device (mp3 player, mobile phone etc.) with an audio out to this adapter, I'd like to build a cable from the 30 pins cradle to a 3,5mm plug.
By using this pin layout (http://pinouts.ru/Devices/ipod_pinout.shtml)I connected the 3,5mm plug to the pin 2, 3 and 4. To test the cable, I disconnected my ipod mini from the car adapter while it's playing and connected my mobile phone. For about 5 seconds I could hear music until the radio was checking the “cd changer signal". So far, so good. :D
To get this signal, I hooked up a 510k resistor between pin 21 and pin 30 and jumped pin 11 and 30.
So far I still don’t get it...
Is just not working, because I made something wrong or will it not work at all???
Thnx for your help...

Woah I just looked at their prices though and they are jacked way too high
if you really want it, then go ahead, but I suggest you do some more research

Hi Frank,
Did you ever get this to work? I want to do exactly the same thing with my VW iPod adaptor.
