Hello, I posted a message yesterday about the reservations I had about purchasing a FM transmitter so I could listen to my ipod mini through the car stereo. I had been reading a ton of reviews online and came to the conclusion that I just needed to try something out to see if it would work for me or not so I made a stop at the Apple Store here in Beachwood, Ohio.

I was extremely happy by the customer service there as a gentleman gave me time to look around but once I had settled on an area he came over to assist at the perfect time and as luck would have it, he also used a FM transmitter in his car. He was using one of the top mounted Griffin top mounted itrips. He said he liked it but since purchasing the new model in which the FM frequency only goes down to 88.1 he has noticed he was having some problems getting clear transmissions. He then pointed out the Monster iCanPlay and said that it had been getting great reviews but pointed out all the wires which would be laying about the dash.

I wasn’t thrilled about all the wires so I opted for my original notion of the Griffin RoadTrip. I was again worried once I got in the car because I noticed that my JVC aftermarket stereo wouldn’t allow me to turn to an unused frequency. I thought I had come to the end of the road only to find out it was the best deal going. I turned on the RoadTrip leaving it on 88.1 and tuned my car stereo to the same station. I was happy to hear the music coming through my stereo sounding as good as a CD.

The real test came on the drive into work this morning as there is one location on the drive where phone calls tend to drop and radio stations fuzz out because the road goes right because a major area radio station tower. Much to my surprise the RoadTrip stayed strong and I didn’t hear even a flicker in the transmission. I would highly recommend the RoadTrip to any ipod user out there! Mine is working great and I am very happy with my purchase.

Hope this helps someone out. This forum is great and I will be back.

Thanks, Sean

Thanks for the review. My son will be needing an FM solution for his iPod, as his factory stereo provides no other means of input. I too had read far too many posts about how disappointing FM transmitters were, but your experience give me hope. Let us know if your satisfaction changes.
