View Full Version : You Know What ####es Me Off?

People who cheat by breaking there iPod on purpose to get a "new" one. .I just couldn't make myself do that. It is such a precious piece of machinery. .And you know some people acually get what they wanted! I mean someone breaks their iPod, gets a new one, really ####es me off. .Almost wish they had trade in programs at local retail stores, Best buy, and CompUSA. .then they could just sell refurbished items for a good price.

Maybe there are some people out there that don't want to spend the 200-500$ and rather get it refurbished. .But then again you can do that on e-bay, but won't you rather get it from a retail store where you feel more safe buying it, and wouldn't have to question yourself when buying it from e-bay. "How do I know this person would send me it?"

I think it's the curse of buying technology. .you have to think "Whats going to happen in the future?" Well I made a smart move. .I asked my mom to help me pay for the 5 GB iPod back in the day. .So I only had to pay 150$, which is around the price you can get it now from e-bay. I guess that's all I have to say.

this has been discussed in the old fora and maybe here as well (too lazy to search ;) ).

so there really is no need to rant.

;) :D

edit:

oh yeah, please refrain from profanity. i?m sure you can express that point of yours without such words.

Speaking of things that totally torque me (WARNING: THREAD BEING HIJACKED!)...

I live in a state (in the great United States of America) where we affix little stickers to the license plates on our auto's each year. These little stickers are the gift bestoyed by our state governement for paying the levy to license the vehicle.

You're probably thinking..."Oh no, he's going to whine about taxes!". ;) Worry not, my anger is caused by a much more petty concern.

You see, the sticker is to be placed in the lower-right hand corner of the rear plate. Unfortunately, this is beyond the ability of at least 60% of our population to comprehend, thus, when driving around town near every other vehicle has the stickers put in all kinds of different places. When these intelligence mongers do this they don't bother to take off the previous years stickers either...thus we're left with a cornucopia of idiocy to view.

I'm considering lobbying my state government to grant me the power to fine people that can't pass this basic intelligence test.

:D :D :D

Amen dude! A F'in men. Not sure what state you live in, but here in the boonies of washington, people do the same thing. I feel your pain.

And hey, at least its a 3day weekend, right? You can sit on a freeway overpass and watch the drunks all night long, and gain satisfaction from the fact that they will no longer be affixing car tabs to their license plates.

the city I live in is like bumper cars. OWI's don't stop people from driving around here...I'm already in a minority for not having any body damage, rust, or blood on my car. ;)

I live in a place worse that can be worse than hell at times. you'd have to get those machines from the matrix to tunnel for a couple weeks (with hell as their start line) to reach where I am. ;)

MRM,

Ease up, dude. Yes it was discussed on the old fora, some weeks ago, but if that was the guideline, most threads on this new forum would have to be locked. EX70s (yawn), how do I get rid of scratches, what's the best case, etc.

Moreover there have been more, newer threads by little pillocks boasting about how they have (or will) misuse their TAPs or warranties in just the way that ticks him off.

And the profane word I'm guessing he used isn't too offensive, really. Good decision to censor it, though.

It's just that some of the new baby mods do seem a bit over-eager compared to old-stagers like TNT and Madpict. I do hope that you'll take that as constructive and supportive criticism, and not as personal abuse.

YOU KNOW WHAT I HATE?????

I hate it when my wife takes a sharp, pointy stick, heats the tip of it until it's flaming, then throws it into my ear like a spear, then grabs the end, and for good measure, gives it a couple of good, hard twists....

Man I hate that...

mrm,

That guy has a good point, and I think you should have laid off him. Granted, he used profanity and that is a good point. But, hey he has that right to state his opinion and doesn't need a moderator busting his chops about it. He is stating an opinion in the right place, and mind you in the correct thread.

I think Jacko and I can both relate to the thread where we stated our opinions like adults and frankly I thought that was one of the better threads on the old forums. But, dude just because you are a moderator doesn't give you the right to bust this guy up just because he is stating his opinion. So, take my rant as you will. We all should be allowed to post our opinions on subjects.

firstly, i wasn?t too serious myself, as one could guess by the emoticons.

secondly, i didn?t take the language that seriously either. i hadn?t even worded my post against it at the beginning. i edited it because this site is also visited by many minors and some infants ;) . i?m fully aware that these minors use language we couldn?t even come up with, if we tried. nonetheless, it was in no way essential for making his point and thereby, not really necessary. my warning, if one can even call it as such, is hardly worth this discussion. these fora have a profanity filter, so if the word you?re using gets censored (justly, not if someone is describing f.e. a male chicken), your language is too strong. it may be fine for discussions with your mates, but it?s not appropriate for these fora. if this makes me the thread police, so be it.
i don?t think i?ve given the impression in the past of being stuck up in any way and it also has nothing to do with my position, i simply believe one should be able express one?s point without reverting to such vocabulary. you?ve proven this often enough, jacko, so you ought to be with me on this one.

if i?m wrong in all of this, my apologies.

btw, no offense taken. :)

p.s. i feel very weird being a 22 year old kid, telling you guys this.

Well, I don't think you're wrong for expecting good manners.

But don't take the bait in this thing with Jacko and what's-his-bucket. You're a very good mod.

Nice try at covering your backside there, Jacko! :D And not a bad attempt at currying favo(u)r, too.

Talk about over-reacting: mrm didn't tell iPodAddict he couldn't rant about the issue, only that it had been done before. He didn't "bust" iPodAddict up; he just informed him that the topic had been addressed before.

It's just that some of the new baby mods do seem a bit over-eager compared to old-stagers like TNT and Madpict. I do hope that you'll take that as constructive and supportive criticism, and not as personal abuse.

We all have different styles and aptitudes. The "old-stagers" and Dennis select the new mods, and there is often much behind-the-scenes discussion of how to handle an issue before action is taken, so you can usually assume that when one moderator has taken action, s/he has the sanction of the others.
But in this case, mrm didn't take any action; he just relayed some useful information (i.e. "this topic has been previously discussed"). There's nothing particularly "moderatorish" about doing that; anyone could have pointed out that it'd been done before on the old boards, and if mrm hadn't, no doubt someone else would have.

I'm just trying to come to terms with being called an "old-stager"..............................................:eek : :D
