Are these any good? I use the Etymotic ER 4's usually (which I love) but am looking for a good quality set for the gym, etc..that I don't have to worry about much.
Are there any others you would suggest? Somewhere around $50 or less ...I'm flexible.

I have a pair. They have very good audio quality and fold up in a nice storage case. A good headphone for the $$

you might want to check our koss portapros which are supposed to deliver a bit more bass and sound a bit warmer.
I agree they have very good sound. Bass, mid, & treble all very clear and not over-done. They're nice & compact when you're not wearing them. I have some decent buds (including the Sonys that too many people rave about), and I always choose the PX-100s.
Keep in mind, they are $40 headphones, though - so they're not going to sound like $100 headphones. That's not necessarily a bad thing; 128kbps music sounds terrible on my high-end cans.

They'll certainly be a culture shock after the Etys, but as everyone else said they have very good sound for the buck. I ended up never using them portably as they don't isolate, but they should be fine for the gym. If sweat is a problem, perhaps you can consider the half-in-ear phones, like the Sennheiser PX10 (which I'm not sure if they sell in the US) or the Sony S2 half-in-ears.

Thanks to everyone for answering. Are the white Sennheiser PX-100's any different than the black ones? Quality wise...
Also, compared to the Sony EX 71's, which are a better headphone?

I bought a pair as an office solution over my Sony -71s and I think the sound quality is awesome. Definitely worth the money!
Cheers,

I have just bought a pair of the PX-200's - closed back as opposed to the open back of the PX-100 - as with most Sennheiser phones the sound is very good. And the ability to fold away is handy also.

Thanks. Would you say the PX-200's are better sounding than the 100's?

the PX-100's are supposed to be much better than the PX-200's, because of their open nature. Closed headphones don't sound as good in general.
the PX-100's are supposedly better than the Porta-Pro's, but I haven't had the chance to listen to the PP's....it's supposedly a close call though

Sorry for the seemingly "basic" question but just what is the difference between open and closed headphones? Does open mean all those around me hear them too?
Also, which other headphones in the similar price range to the 100's are of comparable quality as far as listening is concerned. I feel kind of silly using Etymotic ER4's for listening to audiobooks to and from the office...
"Open" means that people can sort of hear your music (if you're really cranking it), and you can hear a bit of what's going on around you. I just asked my wife across the couch if she can hear the music from my PX-100s, she said no.
Personally I think open is a good thing; I don't like being so unaware of whats going on around me.
The Sony earbuds have lots of bass, but not a lot of anything else. The PX100s are clearer in the midrange & treble. I only use my Sonys on airplanes for the isolation.

the PX-100 are very good for the price.
still, you should know that they can not (at all) compete with the ER4.
I have PX-100 and ER6i and the ETYs are far better.
about PX-200:
the PX-200 are "closed" so your you get better outside noise isolation but your ears will sweat. moreover the PX-200 are more sensitive for a proper "seat".
