Any idea when the Apple Stores with get the Nano's?

Has anyone gotten any estimates when they are supposed to show up in stores? When I went yesterday, the guy said, "In the next couple days." I took that to mean Friday or Saturday so I didn't order one online last night figuring I could get it faster by snagging one at the store. I just called today to make sure they didn't get it today and the guy sounded less optimistic that they would get them in that soon. I did put my name on a waiting list (too bad I didn't think of that last night, but the guy should have offered). So now I'm torn. I don't want to pay extra for faster shipping, especially if they will be in the stores soon.

I saw one report that said "By the weekend"

What this means could mean anything though.

I got an email from apple store today offering free shipping, but in general you could end up waiting longer from an online store depending on when you make the order.

Yeah, I would hope by Saturday they will have them. I'll call the next couple of days, but on Saturday, I'll get there about 10 mins before they open up so hopefully I can get one.

Some post on Apple's discussion boards say folks have heard from various Apple Stores that they will be receiving shipments today. I'm sure they'll be in stock by Saturday.

My Apple Store has them already (Orlando, FL). Saw them today and they seemed to have a few in stock. People were buying them up quick it seemed. I did not get one...I have a mini that died recently and am still trying to decide what I want.

My apple store in NJ at the mall at short hills had a lot of them this morning when I got there at 9:30, they open at 10 am. There were 20 people waiting outside. They said they have a lot, so anyone in NJ check out the Apple store in short hills. I love this thing:)

They received a shipment today (about noon) at the Apple Store in Oak Brook, IL. They were taking names & phone numbers yesterday afternoon for those interested in getting one. I picked up a black 4, and it's beautiful. No sync/charge yet, so I can't give you my impressions of use.

I'm still hoping that the firewire interface will work, despite the USB only warnings. I'm probably delusional.

I just called one today (CA) and they just recieved a shipment of the ipod nano around noon. It's around 40 min away from here, I'm going to go buy one tomorrow when I don't have class :) I'm excited.

Just alled mgr, says they may last till close.

But All Black 4G sold out first before even 2 White ones went wow

Pah, I went to the Apple shop in Leeds Uk and asked when they'd get in the new ipod in, "Oh yeah, the nano-thing, we just heard about it a couple of hours ago*, probably in a week or so" (*24 hours on - d'oh! What's the point of an apple shop if you don't even care about the new products?)

Came back home and ordered online. Won't ship for a few days sady :(

I was tempted to call. I have a mini already but I'd love a black one.

EDIT: Just called. They haven't received them, don't know when they will be receiving them and they are unsure of how big the supply will be. :rolleyes: The lady tried to be a ##### about it but of course she did not succeed when I'm the one calling. I had to set her straight. :cool:

The Northridge, CA store has them. I just bought a Black 4gb. It is amazingly small, light and functional. To me, the sound is better than the last Ipod I had (4G).

just got mine at the apple store but they didn't have any on display, just minis. guess they're getting rid of the rest of the minis they had in stock first, which is a smart move.

they're keeping it on the downlow, so when you tell em you want the nano, it's like a secret code. they go to their manager first then the manager gets it from the backroom all wrapped up so no one can see it...it was funny:D

Bought a Black 4G nano at the Shadyside Apple Store in Pittsburgh at 3 pm Thursday.

I went in to buy a 2G Black but they had run out. To bad for them so they had to settle with me buying a 4G Black. Both White models were in stock.

Salesguy said they were selling like hotcakes.

No displays or signs of the nano at all. The only reason I knew they had them was because a Green Shirted guy brought a stack from the back and put the behind a door behind the register.

They packed my purchase in a iPod nano bag. A very very nice bag. Stiff Cardboard and styled like the nano box using the same foil as on the box. Very expensive looking bags.

These were just for the nano. Built as thin as the nano box.

It was worth the trip just to get the nano bag.

I got a white 4GB nano this afternoon (Thursday) from the Apple Store, London, Regent Street.

It was a little crazy there. Staff were busy unpacking them behind the tills. There was a long queue on the ground floor tills, but I went upstairs as usually the queues are smaller. They seemed to be selling pretty fast!

I'm very impressed with it, and the packaging. I have to look at it every now and again just believe it's so small!!

the Apple Store in Austin, TX has only black 2gig in stock...about 20. i asked at the register if they had sold out of the others and he said they didn't get any 4gigs. didn't say anything about the white 2gigs. worked out quite well for me.

Finally the Cincinnati store got some. Here's my story: I am now the proud owner of a 4 gig black iPod Nano. My wife is working tonight, so I made her go to the Apple store a few minutes before they opened to get me one (since when I called yesterday they said they would get them today). I gave her specific instructions to only get me black or nothing and if they had the 2 gig to get me that, but she could also get me the 4 gig as long as it was black. I also told her to buy me a set of the Nano tubes (but they said they didn't get any accessories). So she said that when she got there they hadn’t even unpacked them and all they had was 3 black 4 gig ones (no 2 gig) and some white ones. They had to enter it into their system first, but she said she was the first one to buy a Nano from the Cincinnati Apple store. A clerk even said he wanted to be the first to ring one up at the store. She said it came in a special bag (which I heard here). Tonight was supposed to be my biannual hand waxing of my car, but I have a feeling that won’t get done with my new toy. I can always use the excuse that it’s too hot and humid tonight :)

i saw the special event on quicktime on 9/7 around morning time. went to the local apple store and copped my own black nano. apparently the they shipped 2 hrs before i even got to the store so i got them hot. they have to be in stores by at least today

Got one Thursday, Sept. 8, at the Apple store within walking distance of the house. They only had a few of the black 2-gig, which happened to be what I wanted. Said they'd be fully stocked in a day or two.
