My 12" PB doesn't have USB 2.0 so i was wondering if i would be able to use the iPod dock connector to usb 2.0 + firewire that is normally used for the iPod mini for owners that don't have USB 2.0 on their computer.

Well on apple's website they have the compatiblities updated. They state the USB 2.0 cable will work. But they don't have the nano listed for the FW or the FW+USB cable. Though it doesn't state the FW will not work.

The nano will only sync with USB 2.0, though MacWorld and others report that it will charge with a dock-to-firewire cable, including with the iPod power brick. The nano only comes with a USB 2.0, though.

As the others have pointed out - no it won't.
It will charge, but it won't sync - basically you need a USB port.

I held out hope that despite apple reports to the contrary, firewire would work with the proper sync cable. Unfortunately, it does not. When I tried it this afternoon on my G4 Quicksilver via firewire, the iPod gave an error message saying something like - firewire connection not supported. I was really bummed, as my G4 only has usb 1.1. I guess I'll have to buy a freakin' usb 2.0 card. I know it's not a big deal, but I have kept my PCI slots uncluttered on my Mac and had hoped to leave them that way.
