Hi, have you ever purchased technology before?

VarLordahl

With all do respect, you're an idiot.

This is how technology evolves. Take any basic econ 102 class at any junior college and you'd learn this.

And guess what. The people that spent $500 on First generation 5gb ipods only to have $399 10gb Second gen ipods come out a year later were probably pretty ####ed too. And guess what? When the 15 and 20GB 3G ipods came out 15 or so months after that for the same price, the people with 2g 10GB ipods were probably ####ed. And guess what? When people that needed tons of storage spent $500 on the 3g 20gb ipod originally, and then they released the 30GB pod for a lower cost, they were probably ####ed too. Or wait a minute, what about the people that paid for the 30GB ipod and then 5 months later the 40gb version came out for hte same price? Or wait. What about the people that paid $500 for a 3g 40gb ipod w/ 8hour battery life and then all of the sudden the 40gb 4g ipod w/click wheel and 12 hour battery life was released for $399?

Are you detecting a pattern here? Whenever you buy anything technological, ESPECIALLY something still heavily in development and refinement phase like MP3 players, EXPECT that it will be obsolete in 8 - 12 months. You have 3 options:

1) GO on doing what you're doing and keep waiting for hte new thing to come out next year and never buy anything

2) Buy the nano, and just be happy with it even when it becomes obsolete.

3) Just buy a new Ipod every year (or 2 a year) like me. Oh, and I just bought a white and a black nano. I'll sell the one I like the least :) And don't wine about not having the $$. Work harder. Or, refer back options 1 or 2.

the Nano is not 300$ you buy what you want/need/can get with the $$ you have. Yes a better Nano will be out in a year but you buy what you need/want when you need/want it. Thats what you do not sya but on in a year well in 2 year and in 3 years.

The first poster is frankly nuts. I mean that in the kindest possible way.

All technology evolves. The iPods will get better nearly ever 6 months. If they don't then some other competitor will and that will be the end of the iPod.

At the time you buy your "Full Size iPods with Huge Battery Life, the confirmed rumor of Bluetooth 2.0 for Wireless Sync or WiFi
in the True iPod plus sprobably video" a year from now you could say that it is a fools erand because you are missing out on the following years confirmed rumor of iTunes downloads via WiFi straight to your iPod, the FM tuner, built in TV, and more!

as for me, i ordered the nano the second i saw it. quite simply it is the most beautiful MP3 player i have ever seen since the day the iPod 1G came out 4+ years ago, and the best part is it even fits my needs/desires to a T, flash based... looks like a real iPod... has all the features of a real iPod... is very small.

Yep I only bought my 20 gig colour Ipod a month ago and then the Nano comes out. But I wont be buying a Nano or any Ipod for a long time because I am happy and the 20 gig does everything for me. Can't keep up with technology! something new will always come out. Either buy it or wait until your ready

How is this a buzzkill?

Take an econ class or just use common sense and figure out the concept of sunk costs and how it relates to technology

Theese iPod nano's will go like a wild fire. Apple is going to sell an obseen amount of theese babies! I've had my 20GB 4G for just over a year and I am considering buying one of theese. The old iPod could get a permanent position at the stereo... see, excuses, excuses..

The first poster is right though: by this time next year, people WILL be spending excactly $249 for the newest Apple product in the iPod line. BUT, it's a whole year! The current nano's probably woun't be on sale in a year!

in Canada, the price is $249.00 Canadian. :3 Its upsetting that iPods cost so much more for us just cause of currency conversion. A dollar is a dollar but $100 US is $200 Canadian. ^^

Jobs, please lower the prices for Canadians just a bit. I beg you? ;__;

You just started another thread telling the world how you were going to CompUSA to buy a nano.

Guess that brings this thread to a close.

I bought an ipod mini 6gb when it first came out. Now it's out of date. So what? I'm going to sell it to part fund the nano.

If you went to your local bank, you could get $130 USD (might need a bit more for taxes) for just over $150 CAD. Then cross the bridge into Detroit and you'd save a lot of cash.

Yep, I remember it took a while to cross into Detroit when I went, around five years ago. Handy to live in a border city though. Especially for the nineteen and twenty year olds coming from Detroit to drink in Windsor... :D

Oh, I thought you were referring to the 1GB shuffle, must've misread then.

For the 2GB nano you can save $14 (and a bit more since we have a 15% tax, I believe Michigan has 7-8%) as you can get $236 CAD to $200 USD.

I bought my mini about a month before the 2nd gen. ones came out... I didn't get that annoyed.

People just have to be happy with what they have, and not become obsessed about always having the newest or the best.

I'm just glad to own an iPod.
