Would taking a set of old headphones and aux audio cables and splicing the left headphone wire with the white aux cable and the right headphone wire with the red aux cable, so I could play my iPod over anything with aux ports? Any help appreciated.

If you don't want to spend the couple bucks to get an adapter cable, that would work no problem.. I've done it before.

Can anyone give me some help on doing this. Not sure where to go with it. Each earphone has a copper wire and a green wire. The AUX cable has a 2 wires inside, one with a white coating around it and the other on the outside around it. Any help is appreciated.

First of all, if the RCA cable that you're using only has two wires, then it is not a stereo cable, it's mono. It should have left and right connectors, each containing two wires. While you can go ahead and use it, it'll sound like crap.. you'd be better off with a stereo cable.. if you have to buy one, you'd be better off just getting an adapter cable.

Here's what'd you do if you had a stereo RCA cable:

For your headphone wires, the green is the positive signal, and the exposed copper is the ground.

What you want to do is connect each green wire seperately to one of the shielded RCA wires, the red for the right signal, and the white for the left. Then you can connect all the copper wires together since they're all the ground signal.

If you do want to go ahead and use the mono cable, you can leave one of the green wires out, and just connect one to the white cable from the RCA cable, and connect the copper wires.

EDIT:
Actually, you can probably connect both green wires to that white wire.. I can't remember if it cancels the audio signal out with mono.. no, I don't think it does..
