Some songs could be duplictes, or pdf files, videos.
ipod won't update them.

See if you can identify the 50 missing songs. You could always switch to manual synch and see if you can drag and drop them to the iPod in iTunes.

You could have issues with non-AAC files not recognised by itunes, or you might have some songs unchecked.
