redeem giftcard without credit card?

I know there are few threads here about this. But it seems that it's not solved. I have this problem, I have a giftcard I want to use, so I need to create an a/c, but it asks me to give credit card number, if not, I cannot proceed to the next step. Also, someone said I need to create a/c through the redeem or giftcard session, I have tried, when you go into eg giftcard session, it asks you for number of the card, then it says not valid card number, and there is NO button or whatever for you to register a/c!
So I would like to know what's going on here!??!

What kind of gift card is it?

Apple gift card.
I think I get it through now, only if I use email address not belonged to web based mail like hotmail or gmail...
