A couple days ago, I connected my 15gb ipod to the computer to transfer some songs I had downloaded onto it. When I had finished transferring the songs, an error message popped up in itunes and said that it had to close. I thought there was an error message just because my ipod had run out of battery life, but when I disconnected my ipod and recharged the battery, all of the songs on it were erased??? Now my ipod doesn't even show up in itunes. The weird thing is, I downloaded the plug-in for Winamp that allows you to transfer songs onto your ipod and then the ipod showed up when I connected it. Some of the songs from my ipod also appeared on winamp, but many of them were missing. I don't understand why I can play some of the songs on my ipod in the winamp media library, but when I look on my ipod all the songs are completely erased. What is going on???

Have you tried resetting your iPod?

Since you have a 15gb iPod, I'll assume it's a 3g. To reset a 3g iPod, press and hold the menu and play buttons until you see the Apple logo on the iPod's screen.

If this doesn't work, you'll probably have to restore your iPod with the iPod updater software. Be aware that this will completely erase your iPod and change all the settings to factory defaults. (Make sure you have copies of all your music on your computer!!)

Hope this helps--

I have tried resetting my ipod, but it doesn't help. When I try to restore my ipod with the updater software, an error message appears saying that the ipod cannot mount. I'm not really sure what to do at this point.
Thank you for replying though.
