My fiance and I just bought each other our wedding gifts today, 2 matching new 15 GB iPods! We're very psyched, but we're leery of screwing things up since we're using Windows XP.

First, the standard ickiness of MMJB, so thanks to this place, we found ephpod, which rocks.

Next comes the daunting task of tagging 34.3 gigs of music. I used to hate id3 tags, but I will learn to love them now.

And, since I can't seem to locate a concrete answer for this, can you use two iPods on the same computer (not simultaneously) with the same dock, and still maintain seperate playlists and configurations using ephpod?

My PC-engrained brain is trying to wrap itself around the "playlist" idea, since I'm used to an MP3 stereo that just goes by directories and subdirectories.

Anyhow, if anyone can answer my question, I would be very grateful.

Now if you'll excuse me, I'm going to go take pictures of my new toy and think about what to name it. This totally rocks.

For the tagging, might I suggest "The God Father". I recently discovered it and really like it's features. Being that it's FREE helps. :)

I sometimes have a problem getting to that site, so let me know if you do as well and I can email you a copy of the prog.

Welcome to the 'lounge pessimista, to you and your fiance. And congrats on your new iPods.

There are a number of tagging programs out there, just do a search of the forums and you'll find many recommendations.

As far as using mulitple iPods on the same computer, that's fine. You can do that with ephpod.

You might want to check out MC9 (Media Cener 9) down the road as a program because it's ideally suited to using w/2 iPods. It's an all-in-one app (like MMJB) it tags, rips, burns, manages your music, plays etc and uploads to the iPod.

There's a board here for it....
