welcome to the lounge :)
there's a really useful thread here, which should help (sorry if it's a bit long, but a lot of members are just sharing their experiences with this issue!)...

Firmware is the software on the iPod itself -- the program that makes the iPod do what it does.
You can get the latest version of the firmware (called the "iPod Updater") here:
http://www.apple.com/ipod/download/
The latest version is the 2005-06-26 iPod Updater.
Once you download it, launch the program, and follow the instructions on the screen. Once you have updated your iPod, the corrupt file problem will be resolved.
However, please read my summary in the thread that yinyang posted above VERY carefully. Using the 2005-06-26 iPod Updater will solve the corrupt file problem, but will introduce a new problem: namely, that smart playlists will no longer update themselves on the iPod itself. If you do not use smart playlists and/or you don't care about that, using this new Updater is the easiest solution to your problem.
If you do care about smart playlists, you'll want to try one of the other fixes I have outlined in that thread. In that thread, I have tried to be as clear and concise and possible. Please read it carefully. If, after you have gone through it, you still have questions, please feel free to post a question. However, to keep things organized, please post your question in that thread, not this one. Thanks, and good luck.
