loading iTunes

Hello all,
I have a problem in loading CD's into iTunes ( I don't know if this is the proper forum for this question but hey... this is my first time posting here so be gentle with me. )
ok, again anytime I try to load a CD into iTunes the last track on the CD.. any CD... will not load. Has anyone else ever experienced this problem? and if the solution is reloading the software ( I hope not ) is there anyway to save my existing iTunes library?

I sometimes find that the last track can be slow, and never quite gets there, I think I read somewhere that if in preferences >Importing you untick- play tracks while importing, that this may remedy the situation.
Give it a go, you're ceratinly not the only one with this problem, so there will be a thread somewhere.
