tagging songs

okay, here is my somewhat convoluted question.

i used the program tag scanner to retag and rename all my songs. i wanted them renamed with the track number so that when i listen on my computer, i can easily identify which song is which.

so when i synched (sank??!!) my ipod, the track numbers went with it. i do not like how this looks. is it possible to have the track numbers there on my computer but not the pod?

i use ephpod and i unchecked the option that says something about using the track number in the filename. but this didn't help.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

So do you mean the tracknumber is part of the title or what?

The tracknumber is supposed to be transparent, and you can only see if you use certain software. You may have selected the option in tagscanner where it puts the track number into the title. If you did, then to get rid of it either do it manually (yuk) or 'update' the tag from the previous tag.

This might sound confusing, but have a play around, it has a preview button, so it shouldn't be any worry playing.

yeah, when i originally tagged and named the tracks i put hte number in the title. i want it there for when i'm playing music on my computer. but i want it invisible when it's on the ipod.

does this make sense? i'm really not sure it's even possible.
