Even though its my first post, i've been checking this site out for some time now.

Anyway, I will soon be getting rid of my 40gb ipod, and getting a 60gb color. With the 40gb, i underestimated how easy it is to scratch and bruise it. Now that i will be getting a fresh one soon, i want to get a good case or cover.

I have docks all over. One in my room, one in the living room, one in my car, and i might get one for my garage(i work there alot). So for the last 2 weeks i've been trying to look for a dock-able case. So far no luck finding any. At first i thought maybe those HP Tattoos could do some good against scratches, but i forgot that it doesnt cover the whole ipod.

Well... now i'm thinkin that maybe i can get a slip-on cover case. something that i can slip the ipod in and out of (like the slip-on case that comes with the psp). Do you guys have any recommendations? (other than the iSocks) Preferably one that still gives me access to the controls.

I might still get a real case later on, for going out of town and stuff. That MArware Covertible looks pretty sweet. But i still need that slip-on case.

What about the Speck cases or the Lajo exoflp?

I'm kind of struggling with the same issue. I usually keep it in my iSkin which works great for me. I bought the Altec speakers, and it won't dock with the iSkin. I looked at the Lajo, but some people say the wheel cover bunches up and makes it hard to control when docked. I was thinking about using a cable to bypass the dock. Might be cheaper than buying new cases...

The last time I checked, both the Speck and the exoflp didn't have 60GB versions. Speck is really bad... they try to do "one size fits all," and fail miserably at it. My 40GB iPod was really ugly in it. So I returned it.
But I have the same issue with my cases... I love docking my iPod. But my silicone iSkins get really stretched out when I take it in/out, so I avoid it.
My Contour Showcase is great because it latches open and closed really quickly. Flip it open, and bam, there's your iPod, ready to dock. It gets a bit annoying in the car, though, finding a place to put the case while the iPod has the iTrip attached.

For a 60GB color, the iConcepts Metal Case for iPod would be pretty good. Tight fit, but it covers everything. Not exactly slip-on, but it's protective, and right now at CompUSA, you can get two iPod accessories for the price of one.

I have the lajo and was not satisified with the way the part over the clickwheel bunches up, so instead I got an iSee and dock in into my inmotion by taking off the bottom part and sliding the case up a bit. I've also seen a mod on the iSkin cases where a razor blade is used to make the case dockable.

try making a dock out of legos then customize the fit so that the case will fit into the dock.

i would go with the contour design showcase, while its not fully dockable you can open it and take the ipod out very easily, and just seems like the ideal option for docking in my mind. i have one of the lajo flp cases and i am very very dissatisfied with it, first off my ipod is hard to get in and out of it, harder than it is to get in and out of my iskin. it also collects dust and dirt like crazy while my iskin doesnt, i would strongly advise against that case...

Have to agree with the negative comments about so-called dockable silicone cases. I tried the Specks and they sucked. Should have bought the Contour Showcase in the first place, and should have done it a couple weeks ago. Their website had the 3G models on clearance for $20, choice of colors. Now, they're selling them at 2 for $35, but it's not clear what colors you'd get. That's a heck of a deal, however.

technically, speck does make a photo skintight for the 40 and 60gb models.

I have had no trouble with any of my speck products, and I currently have seven (of different varieties)

well i see you have the 30gb, and those are near the size of the 20gb, aint it?

Anyway, im considering the speck phototight to buy later, as a second case. But i'm thinkin about going with the Radtech Podsleevz. Has anyone tried these?

the one complaint i hear the most, is that it just seems alil homebrew or cheap looking.... I dont think that will bother me... Anything as close as possible to the PSP case.

I think I'll give the Contour Design Showcase a try. Just found one on eBay for $17.95.
