I've been happy with my Altec Lansing iM3 and my 4G iPod for many months now, but recently I figured my ipod was gettin a little too scratched up and the battery was waning more quickly, so I did a costco switch and came out with a 30 GB color (the only one they had)...problem is that now my ipod doesn't fit in the iM3 and it will only play the music if you shove the ipod down, then it just pops back up.

So what should I do...I'm not sure if I still have the receipt, but do you guys think the iPod store that I got it at would let me swap it out with something different? I need some suggestions so I don't end up wasting the 180 bucks on that altec lansing

The im3 does come with alternative dock 'inserts' - you just need the correct one. I'm sure Altec Lansing will oblige.

The thread titled "Does the new iPod Color fit into the IM3 system?" under the "iPod (Color/Photo)" section might be helpful to you. It has a link to the Altec Lansing site showing how to remove the bottom plate, and also shows the modification I had to make to get my 60GB color to fit even after that.

Basically first you should remove the factory installed plate around the dock socket on the IM3. If that doesn't work for you you might need to modify the IM3's like I did mine. Since I made that mod I've had no problems, but somebody else on the thread had the very same iPod as mine and it fit without problems. You said you have the 30GB, so you may only have to remove that plate. Anyway, good luck.
