since yesterday my 2gen 10GB Win ipod keep s randomly remounting while i try to ransfer a song ... it stays mounted normaly untill i start transferring songs. then after some 10 to 14 seconds ephpod freezes and the ipod un- and remounts .. showing me the "OK TO DISCONNECT" screen for 5 seconds and then un- and remounting again and again ... until i unplug him from my pc (WINXP)
i can play songs and recharge the ipod but i can't put new songs on it (and i tried different mp3s ... so there is no mistake with them)
i also tried to solve the problem by reinstalling ephpod and by formatting the ipod but i wasn't able to transfer any songs after that! ;(

a million thanks for help buddies!!!

What are you using to connect your iPod to the PC? Firewire or USB? If firewire, what kind of card?

Have you tried a Reset on the iPod?

I have a 2nd gen 10 GB ipod so ... i'm using firewire.
I connect the ipod using the firewire support of my Creative Soundblaster Audigy 2.
I both made a reset (menue + play button) and I also reformated it!
today i ll try the ipod on another PC so i'll be able to tell you if the ipod is the problem or my PC :(

I also forgott to mention that the IPod's harddrive seems to be spinning all the time while it is connected to the PC ...

i just did a search on the forum and saw that there are many threads on the audigy ... and i read a couple of times that the audigy doesn't use the IEEE1394 standard ... my Audigy 2 definitely uses this standard! (as stated on the dell website where i bought my system)
