Hi everybody, I am a new guy here. Just bought my 30G new iPod. Being also an owner of njb3 and njb1 (Creative Nomad Jukebox 3 & 1), I think ipod is really a good portable device. And being able to put it in my pocket really feels sooooo good.....

Anyway, for these few days, I am looking for a 2nd charger for my iPod when I am in the office. My problem is, I don't want to bring the iPod charger from home, and neither do I want to buy another one. I got a VAIO notebook in the office, but it only has 4pin 1394 (aka i-Link). Yesterday I finally got a good solution :

Buy a firewire hub with external power supply, plus a 4pin to 6pin 1394 cable :

iPod <-> firewire hub <- 6pin to 4pin cable -> VAIO

Without the VAIO connected to the hub, the firewire hub simply acts as a charger for iPod. With VAIO connected, I can happily access the iPod thr. ephpod. :)

I too have had a situation like that except with my notebook at home, I have an Inspiron 600m, and being the good people that they are over at Dell, it didn't come with a firewire port, so i had to purchase a seperate firewire card for it. Well to my surprise the Card does not charge the iPod because of the 6 pin 4 pin thing, don't know why on the site it said it was "Perfect" for iPods, well anyway it did have a plug for an external adapter, and being the great philospher that I am i got to pondering....I looked around for adapters that might fit it, I found the adapter for my old network hub, plugged it in and badda boom badda bing it worked....god was i relieved when i saw the battery charging, because i thought i was gonna have to switch from port to port everytime i synced it with my comp.
