Help Can't get out of disc mode
Bought an ipod 40GB last week and it has been working ok. A little while ago I was recharging it by the dock and the mesage came up on th pc that I had disconnected it without stopping it ( which I hadn't)
The do not disconnect stayed on the screen even after I had disconnected it and I followed the advice in some of the other posts - help the menu and play and then the ff and rew button till it said it was ok to disconnect.
But now I cannot get rid of THAT screen and it won't respond at all or switch off. I have tried placing it back on the dock and the pc is recognising it but when I stop the device all I get on the ipod is a big tick with ok to disconnect at the bottom and disc mode at the top.
Any help appreciated.

Usually what you should do is put it into Firewire Disk Mode (which is what you did when you pressed FF and REW) until it say OK to Disconnect.

Then you should connect it to the PC. It should change to "Do Not Disconnect". Then you should unmount it properly and it should return to normal.

hi!

thankyou both - but it's still absolutely pooped!

Even when I unmount it - gets stuck on 'Ok to Disconnect'.

Tried to Restore but it always stops before it reaches the end and then hangs.

I'm at a loss and totally gutted. I got in brand new from someone in the US off ebay (it was in original package and wrapping) but I am in the Uk
